Financing the Hungarian Healthcare System

Financing healthcare services shall take place from the Health Insurance Fund, based on the system specified in Act LXXXIII of 1997 on the care provided by mandatory health insurance, and it shall be the task of the National Health Insurance Fund Administration (NEAK).

 

Within the bounds of relevant laws, healthcare services can be used to an extent mandated by one’s health. Those entitled to use the healthcare services of health insurance shall respectively be entitled to receive such services with the same professional content.

 

Healthcare services shall be used at the healthcare provider having a financing contract with health insurance for the given service.

 

Health insurance organizations shall, as specified by a specific Act, provide the engagement of the necessary capacity in due time, and the financing and monitoring of the service provided in terms of the healthcare services provided by healthcare providers.
