Payment for the costs of care

EU patients shall pay for the care provided, the costs of which may be asked by the healthcare provider to be paid in advance via wire transfer or in the form of a cash payment. Payment conditions are set forth by the internal regulations of the healthcare provider.

 

The costs are defined based on Homogenous Patient Groups (HBCs), i.e. a classification system for patients applied in financing Hungarian inpatient care. The costs applicable to EU patients are specified by the National Health Insurance Fund (NEAK) every month, according to a governmental regulation. This is published monthly at the NEAK official website.

 

In case of emergency care the general rules shall apply.
