As a basic rule, in Hungary, the healthcare provider uses the Hungarian language as a default in the course of providing care. (The Directive does not prescribe that the healthcare provider shall communicate or issue medical records in the language used by the patient.)
It is highly emphatic that training in foreign languages is an important part of medical training in Hungary: receiving a medical degree shall only be possible in case the graduate disposes of a language examination. Therefore, one shall not expect language barriers in the course of care.
